What Leaders Do- from Winning Jack Welch.

  1. Leaders relentlessly upgrade their team, using every encounter as an opportunity to evaluate, coach, and build self-confidence.

  • You have to evaluate- making sure the right people are in the right jobs, supporting and advancing those who are, and moving out those who are not.

  • You have to coach- guiding, critiquing, and helping people to improve their performance in every way.

  • And finally, you have to build self-confidence- pouring out encouragement, caring, and recognition.

  • Self-confidence energizes, and it gives your people the courage to stretch, take risks, and achieve beyond their drums. It is the fuel winning teams.

  1. Leaders make sure people not only see the vision, they live and breathe it.

  2. Leaders get into everyone’s skin ,exuding positive energy and optimism.

  3. Leaders establish trust with candor, transparency, and credit.

  4. Leaders have the courage to make unpopular decisions and gut calls.

  5. Leaders probe and push with a curiosity that borders on skepticism, making sure their questions are answered with action.

  6. Leaders inspire risk taking and learning by setting the example.

  7. Leaders celebrate.

Leaders are the ones who plan , organize, motivate, execute, divides the task and finally achieves. Leaders are people with skill who can make their team work just by motivating and encouraging and finally getting the Job done. Leaders who just pass commands and has no patients when the job is not done is no leader at all. A leader is a person who sticks with the team guiding them telling them what to do and what not to not do and above all who tries to understand the pressure the workers are facing. Leader should be an action oriented person who works effectively and efficiently. Leaders should be the ones from whom the people learn and follow.

Tennyson in one of his poem writes “TO STRIVE, TO SEEK, TO FIND, AND NOT TO YIELD.”   This is what a leader is meant to do. Leaders are not born but they are made. Hope this article will be useful. Let’s be a Leader and not a dictator. Let’s do something remarkable.
