Any person can have a goal, but only some people follow through the goal.  Commitment to the goal is more important than just simply having a goal. Only the committed win!

The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would come his way.  – William H. Murray

1) Expect commitment to be a struggle

Making a promise is easy, but staying committed to it is very different. For instance, you might have committed yourself to learn an instrument. Perhaps for a week you practised, but then you skip a day, then a week, and skipping becomes a habit. Commitment is a struggle but when persisted, it is rewarding.

2) Don’t rely on talent alone

Stephen king said it well when he said, ‘talent is cheaper than table salt.’ Talent is  overrated. Talent is good, but without a commitment to develop ones talents it is almost impossible to achieve anything. With persistence and commitment  even the most talented can be beaten.

The heights by great men reached and kept

Were not attained by sudden flight,

But they, while their companions slept,

Were toiling upward in the night.

3) Focus on Choices, Not Conditions

Some people focus on their external choices to keep their commitments, but those who focus on their internal choices will keep their commitments. And this is what separates success from failure.

4) Be Single-Minded

By being  committed single-mindedly towards your goals, you can become extremely successful. You don’t need to do many things but do things single-mindedly, be committed to that one goal  and can make all the difference.

5) Do what’s right even when you don’t fell like it

Buckner said it well, “ To bring one’s self to a frame of mind and to the proper energy to accomplish things that require plain hard work continuously is the one big battle that everyone has. When this battle is won for all time, then everything is easy.” The greatest difficulty faced by any person is to do the right things even when one doesn’t fell like doing it. When a person is committed he will do it irrespective of the way he feels.    He is truly committed to success.
